Eastman Chemical Company will increase capacity at its Kingsport manufacturing facility. The two-phase project will result in doubling of 2-ethyl hexanoic (2-EH) acid from 40 million pounds to 80 million pounds. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2005.
2-EH acid is produced by the company’s Eastman division as part of the performance chemical and intermediates segment. The product is used in paint dryers, as well as to produce a plasticizer used in automotive and architectural safety glass
